HGTV's Quest for the Blingiest Home
YouTuber, singer and choreographer Todrick Hall teamed up with interior designer Kim Myles to find the most extravagant homes built and designed to a theme. Their quest led them to 15 over-the-top residences across five categories: The Blingiest Places for a Party, The Bling With a View, Blast from the Blingy Past, Family Bling and Saved by the Bling. They rated each home with wow-factor and execution in mind. The top contender for each category moved forward to compete for the Battle of the Bling champion title. There were dozens of jaw-dropping indoor and outdoor designs showcased during the season, but ahead we're highlighting the blingiest spaces our judges saw.

Blingiest Place for a Party Winner: That '70s House
Battle of the Bling opened with The Blingiest Places for a Party. The "That '70s House" — decked out in all its retro, bubblegum pink glory — captured the attention of Todrick and Kim, as well as HGTV guest judges Alison Victoria ( Windy City Rehab ), Jackie Siegel ( Queen of Versailles ) and Keith Bynum ( Bargain Block ).
That '70s House: Primary Bedroom
The owner — Jamie, a fashion photographer — brought "That '70s House" to life with her own DIY handiwork. The primary bedroom of the house is decked out in pink, complete with a blush rotating circle bed and a ceiling tiled with mirrors. "I learned how to cut mirrors," said Jamie. "I put all those mirrors up.”
That '70s House: The Red Room
This Red Room is extra-special, featuring a round, massage bed and a spacious tub. “I always felt like I was born at the wrong time. I love the edginess, the raunchiness of the ‘70s, ‘80s rock 'n' roll,” Jamie said.
That '70s House: The Green Room
In the finale of Battle of the Bling , viewers were treated to a bonus glimpse inside "That '70s House." The focus was on what Jamie refers to as The Green Room, a bedroom with yet another round bed, along with fur-lined walls and hanging vines, which she says was inspired by Graceland.
That '70s House: The Backyard
The interior isn't the only thing to gawk over. This backyard is pretty major, too. The pool is surrounded by pink lounge chairs and umbrellas. Jamie even dyes the water pink for her parties. “I love the pinks. I love that she sources it all. I love that she dresses it all," said Alison. "That’s what we were talking about: Commit to it. She committed to it. That’s the energy I want to be around." Unsurprisingly, the judges selected "That '70s House" as the winner of The Blingiest Places for a Party.
Blingiest Place for a Party Runner Up: The Glass Palace
This stunner boasts a 7-foot Venetian Murano glass chandelier in the entryway, sprawling city views, a hidden 75-inch television, hand-placed beveled mirror wall tiles and more. Despite its stellar floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the home, though, it didn't quite live up to "That '70s House."
Blast from the Blingy Past Winner: Palm Springs Glam
While "That '70s House" showcased designs from decades ago, in the end, the iconic "Palm Springs Glam" home took the prize for the category. The owner — John, a clothing designer — outfitted the home in patterned wallpaper. "It was on the market for eight months because the style was crazy," he revealed. "The wallpaper was already here. In 1979, when it was installed, it cost only $3,700. Nobody wanted this house, but I thought it was amazing from the start." The HGTV judges did, too.
Family Bling Winner: Treasure Hunter's Hacienda
The winner of the Family Bling category, "Treasure Hunter's Hacienda," is nothing short of a storybook come to life. The home's owner, Olinka, wanted to create a Peter Pan-like paradise — which, as it turns out, isn't just inspired by the movie. The design actually incorporates multiple props from the set, including the original crow's nest.
Treasure Hunter's Hacienda: The Dungeon
The home stood out for many reasons including a dungeon room that doubled as a wine cellar. Olinka revealed the room was built with 70 trucks worth of concrete and rebar, pressed with stone shapes, t o achieve the true dungeon-like ambiance.
Treasure Hunter's Hacienda: Spirit Theatre
Where so many modern in-home theaters are outfitted with plush reclining chairs, the "Treasure Hunter's Hacienda" is lined with seats from the original Fox Theater, which opened in 1929 with “Steamboat Willie,” the first Mickey Mouse cartoon.
Treasure Hunter's Hacienda: The Wow-Factor
Attention to detail and commitment to a nautical, pirate-esque theme brought the "Treasure Hunter's Hacienda" the winning Family Bling category title. A few other callouts from the home include 3,504 bottles of vintage booze lined up on a wall, a real human skull in a display case in the game room and an antique blackjack table from Golden Nugget Casino.
Family Bling Runner Up: The Greek Retreat
The "Greek Retreat" was a home highlighted in the Family Bling category. While it didn't move forward in the competition, we can't help but ogle over the lifelike portrait sky ceilings. They were created with a Trompe L’oeil technique, which makes 2D images look 3D. Very blingy, indeed.
Family Bling Runner Up: Self-Made Manor
Another home in the Family Bling category was the "Self-Made Manor." Mother-daughter duo Julia and Octavia turned what was once a rehab center into a pink hacienda. Each room in the home is decorated in varying shades of pink to create a glam dream space.
Saved by the Bling Winner: French Colonial
Built from the ground up, the "French Colonial" — the top contender for the Saved by the Bling category — is a true head-turner. What started as a two-bedroom house transformed into a spacious, open-concept home thanks to a 5,000-square-foot blingy addition that increased the home's value by $13 million.
French Colonial: Inspired by New Orleans
The "French Colonial" is a unique fusion of French, English and Italian design elements, which Jackie applauded from the start. Despite the international allure, it was actually inspired by a home the owner, David, saw and fell in love with while visiting New Orleans. As such, Daved wove vibrant colors, eclectic furniture and statement mirrors and chandeliers into every inch of the home.
French Colonial: Massive Island
The judges expressed surprise at the largeness of the kitchen island. Compared to the rest of the home's sprawling layout — David purposefully avoided building walls to maintain an open feel — the kitchen is relatively modest (though, of course, it boasts all the blingy basics). The giant island, however, is big enough to comfortably seat a dinner party and offers plenty of space to prep and cook.
French Colonial: Statement Blue Velvet Couch
In the main living room, a spacious curved blue velvet couch sits below a glistening chandelier. But that's not all — from the couch, guests can look up to the second-floor balcony of the home, which offers a birds-eye view of the main living area.
Saved by the Bling Runner Up: Modern Deco Masterpiece
This 12,000-square-foot home — a huge structure for the city block it resides on — was another contender for the Saved by the Bling category. Its interior was inspired by 1930s design with a modern twist. One of the most notable things about the home is its six (yes, six!) bars. The main one, situated in what owner Andrew calls the Hotel Lobby, has an open back, so guests can enjoy it from multiple rooms.
Bling With a View Winner: Medieval Mediterranean
When a home's entrance and backyard are designed with a harlequin lawn pattern — vertical diamonds arranged point to point — you know the owners are all about the bling. And that's exactly the case with the "Medieval Mediterranean," the winning residence of the Bling With a View category.
Medieval Mediterranean: Flower Wall
There was a lot to see inside the "Medieval Mediterranean" home, including 15-foot mirrors, a Game of Thrones replica throne, dragonskin wallpaper and a wall of potions in the bar. But of all the over-the-top decor and design, the jungle room took the cake. The walls are lined with faux florals
Operands are not of the same type: comparison is supported for Number types only.
