A Big-Ticket, Supersized Beauty
For the third season of Rock the Block , the Marrs headed to Charleston, South Carolina, for some no-holds-barred competition. They devoted a whopping $50K to this jaw-dropping kitchen, which features slider doors for proper indoor-outdoor Southern living, a reoriented extra-long kitchen island that offers million-dollar views and comfortably seats five (thank you very much!) and a spectacular rustic dining table (thanks, Dave) for eight. Spoiler: They won the week’s design challenge handily.

Wintery Blue Cabinets and Intricate Tile
Making a galley-style kitchen feel expansive is no mean feat. The key to this abundant-feeling space is in how Dave and Jenny carried the cabinets and the tile all the way up to the ceiling. Beside the window, they installed a pair of floating shelves in the same shade of blue to give the sink station a bit of breathing room and showcase even more of that lovely tile.

A Design Lover's Dream
Jenny pulled out all the midcentury-inspired stops to give this kitchen classic style. From the pair of cocoon-style pendants she centered over the waterfall-edge terrazzo island to the gleaming, ceiling-mounted brass corner shelves she floated over the countertop, the space is a hit parade of design moments. The gorgeous, minimalistic cabinets Dave installed beneath them all are awfully easy on the eyes as well.

Gorgeous Green and an Heirloom Island
The Marrs hauled their clients’ washer and dryer out of the kitchen and replaced them with a downright stunning Dave original — solid, two-level white oak island. Those contemporary Shaker-style cabinets don’t just store dishes and cookware: This couple now has an ice cream bar at the ready to delight guests.

A Showstopping Custom Hood
Don’t let this kitchen’s sleek surfaces and calming color scheme fool you: That slow-burner of a powder-coated brass hood sticks the landing between rustic and fabulous in inimitable Marrs style. A shapely, oil-rubbed bronze faucet punctuates the ample island, gleaming white subway tile offers a calming backdrop and a glam gold-accented range (topped with a perfectly patinated kettle) complete the mixed-metal marvel.

A White-Oak Wonderland
From handsome flooring all the way up to the ceiling’s pair of exposed beams, the Marrs renovated this kitchen to make it feel like a warm hug for friends and family. Handmade white tile adds a touch of subtle texture on the backsplash, and delicately veined stone tops both the generous island and arcing lower countertops. From hardwood to handicraft, this room is all about organic beauty.

A Big Mood
Jenny committed to a bold, black-on-black design for this kitchen that carries from its sleekly paneled floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and stone-topped island with a trio of barstools to the shelving and lozenge-shaped hex tiles tucked into the alcove above the chef’s range. A pair of airy natural pendants and pale wood flooring keep the drama from feeling oppressive and help all those dark surfaces accomplish their purpose — that is, to give the kitchen the feel of a distinct space within this home’s open floor plan.

A Floor-To-Ceiling Wine Rack
This chic, modern kitchen is all about traditional elements put to use in unexpected ways. The architectural wine rack is great for oenophiles, of course, but it’s also a clever way to divide rooms without excessive visual weight. This kitchen also boasts a functional window above the sink that can be opened for socializing and sealed back up when, say, it’s time to caramelize onions. Why weren’t we outfitting pass-throughs like this decades ago?

The Welcome Inn’s English Country Charm
For Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn , Dave and Jenny created the vacation rental of their dreams in Rogers, Arkansas, and converted an 1880s historic home. They infused their up-to-date renovation with English country character by installing herringbone floors, a handmade mosaic backsplash and custom cabinets. For even more personality, Jenny arranged art and shapely glassware on a floating shelf above the countertop.

Clever Custom Elements
The handsome floors, thoughtful layout and cool cabinetry you see here are all Marrs-renovation calling cards, but what really makes this kitchen characteristic of their work is the chef’s-kiss flourishes. Check out that inset pet feeding station (with a pot filler!) at left, the complementary wine rack between the pantry and the refrigerator and the interior window between the kitchen and the living room.

Quirky, Contemporary Luxury
At a glance, you could be forgiven for considering this kitchen somewhat minimalist. Its barely-there hardware, smooth wood and stone planes and strong silhouettes all seem to mean business. But across the living area sits a wine room behind a rainbow-toned fish tank. We’re delighted.

Lakeside Lightness
Jenny and Dave planned this creamy, cozy kitchen to make the most of the spectacular lake view through its sliding glass doors. Pale, tone-on-tone flooring, cabinetry and stone countertops soak up the sunlight that pours in through those doors. Crisp hardware and a pair of sculptural pendants make that simple scheme feel tailored and sophisticated.

A Pair of Dazzling Details
From the curvaceous turned legs on the dining table and its artfully mismatched seating to the glorious panes of stained glass hung above the windows on either side of the range, this kitchen is all about character. It’s also a reminder that keeping your eyes peeled for antiques and architectural salvage to finish your space can be just as important as choosing the right cabinets and countertops.

Same Footprint, Whole New Look
This crisp blue kitchen illustrates how beautifully Jenny’s design choices can transform a space. Though there were no serious switches in this room's layout, it’s now a Scandinavian-inspired marvel with storm-blue cabinetry and an integrated hood set against gleaming, textural subway tile and fresh white countertops. Classic wishbone stools tucked into the island and wood and wicker accents add a note of organic warmth.

The Prettiest Range in Arkansas
With cool green-gray cabinetry, a pair of fluted pendants, chic geometric backsplash tile and an ample island crowned with luxe hardware, Jenny made style statements aplenty before the appliances even got to this kitchen. But oh, that appliance. The lipstick-pink statement range makes boiling water feel like a special occasion.
Eclectic and Industrial Touches
Living large in an apartment is doable with a well-executed plan, as Jenny and Dave demonstrated in their friends’ open-plan kitchen. Historic exposed brick is the star of the show on the rear wall, where Jenny chose floating shelves and a pair of brass utility rods to add functionality without stealing that feature’s thunder. Tucking the refrigerator behind paneling gives the space a bit of polish, and a multipurpose island offers a gathering spot that doesn’t gobble up floor space.

A Green-Clad Kitchen
Nestled in the woods of Bentonville, Arkansas , this home is surrounded by trees and greenery, so the Marrs brought the outside in with sylvan green, Shaker-style cabinetry. Paired with a classic marble tile backsplash and white quartz countertops, the browns, greens and blacks throughout the space boast a soft, timeless aesthetic . Brass pendant lights illuminate a ready-for-gatherings island.

Cottage Style With Modern Smarts
With classic white shiplap walls to complement the soaring, exposed-beam ceiling, sweet café curtains, a pair of ebony-stained island stools and an old-school rack for dried herbs and cooking implements, Jenny gave this kitchen timeless charm. With thoughtful cabinetry and an integrated hood and appliances that pack functionality into every charismatic inch of the space, Dave has lent it decidedly contemporary convenience.

A (New) Old World Character
Dave and Jenny reimagined this once-cramped kitchen by demolishing a wall and whittling storage down to the necessities, which tuck into the new island and under the countertops. They then evoked a traditional hearth by installing an arch to surround the range and hood with whitewashed brick. On the opposite wall, a weathered interior door and a collection of mounted wooden cutting boards complete the handsome new look.

The Ultimate Eat-In Kitchen
Islands and barstools are well and good, but when you really want to collapse the distance between an entertainer and their guests, why not plant the dining table right in the kitchen? Jenny tucked six spindle-backed black chairs around a Dave Marrs original in this open and wonderfully gracious space.
